Preventing burnout is obviously important for ensuring on-going happiness. There are considerable pressures placed on oneself either from people or as simple as reading multiple emails. Trying to unlock/define the causes of the stress is the first step to moving out of this red zone.

As an experienced psychiatrist, I have seen an increasing number of stress burnout cases amongst adults in the UK. With high pressure situations both at home and at work causing people to feel completely overwhelmed and mentally, as well as physically, exhausted. While feelings of general stress are not uncommon, reaching a point at which you are no longer capable of managing your life, completing tasks, and focusing on things that are important to you, should not go untreated. Stress burnout is treatable and with the right plan of action, you can get back to life as you once knew it.

Why Does Stress Burnout Occur?

The most common causes of stress burnout are often related to an individual’s perception of their work-life balance and the pressure they put on themselves. However, other factors like external pressures from family members, financial issues, or unexpected life events can all contribute to an increased level of stress, leading to burnout. It is important to recognise these factors in order to address and manage stress burnout and its symptoms.

Symptoms of Stress Burnout

The symptoms of stress burnout can vary from person to person and may not be immediately noticeable. However, common signs may include constant fatigue, irritability, difficulty sleeping, loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyable, and a feeling of being overwhelmed or unable to cope with daily tasks.
